In the absence of an approved drug therapy or cure, lifestyle modification with diet and exercise remains a key component of the clinical management of patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Exercise has many well-established benefits including improving liver fat, physical fitness, body composition, vascular biology and health related quality of life. However, despite this understanding through years of research, key questions remain about how to best prescribe exercise as medicine to patients with NAFLD.
