Dr Lujan holds dual board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, and he is also certified by The American Board of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine. His clinical expertise is in Gastrointestinal Pathology. He completed a Surgical Pathology fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions after graduating from the Pathology residency program at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr Lujan has held previous academic appointments at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He was director of a GI fellowship program for several years.

Lewis Hassell

Professor of Anatomic Pathology, The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences

Lewis Hassell is Professor of Pathology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and former director of Anatomic Pathology. He is a past board member of APF, CAP, and DPA and the past president of the CAP Foundation. Before re-entering academia in 2008, he practiced for 17 years with Dahl Chase Pathology in Maine and for four years in Northern California.

Dr. Hassell is keenly interested in developing pathology capacity and diagnostic quality in low-resource settings, leadership development, and practice management issues. To those ends, he recently launched the Open Pathology Education Network (OPEN) to curate and deploy a virtual residency training program for use in developing countries and elsewhere. He is the host of “Sign-out with the Professor” a monthly on-line teaching session covering pathology topics using digital materials, and also has a busy pathology-oriented YouTube channel featuring hundreds of pathology training videos aimed at residents and practitioners. Together with Michael Talbert and Jane Pine Wood, he helped author and edit “Pathology Practice Management: A Case-Based Approach.” He is the father of three above-average children and twelve “destined for greatness” grandchildren, all thanks to his eternal companion, Mary Bliss Finlayson.

Zaibo Li, MD, Ph.D, MBA is a Professor of Pathology, Director of Cytopathology, Associate Director of Digital and Computational Pathology at The Ohio State University. He holds an Endowed University Pathology Services Professorship. His practice and academic interests are breast/gynecological pathology, cytopathology, and digital pathology. He has published more than 180 scientific articles and many book chapters. He is currently served as section or associate editor/editorial board for several Pathology Journals and served in multiple national society committees. He has presented lectures on many national/international pathology conferences and teaching courses.

Arvind Rao

Professor of Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics, University of Michigan Ann Arbor

Arvind Rao is a Professor in the Department of Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics at the University of Michigan. His group uses image analysis and machine learning methods to link image-derived phenotypes with genetic data, across biological scale (i.e. single cell, tissue and radiology data). Such methods have found application in radiogenomics, drug repurposing based on phenotypic screens and spatial profiling in tissue, as well as in spatial transcriptomics. Arvind received his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Bioinformatics from the University of Michigan, specializing in transcriptional genomics, and was a Lane Postdoctoral Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University, specializing in bioimage informatics.

Ahmed Fadiel

Computational Oncology Unit Director/Professor, University of Chicago Medicine

Dr. Fadiel has more than 20 years of research experience in cancer molecular biology and bioinformatics developing protein interaction networks and pathway models to increase understanding of cancer progression. His research and development work in academia and industry used molecular dynamics simulations to study structural aspects of drug/target/ligand interactions. Dr. Fadiel has experience integrating and analyzing high throughput data and developing computational methods and tools for analyzing and incorporating these data. Dr. Fadiel has developed many novel bioinformatics algorithms and tools for Oncology Data Analysis, including digital pathology and AI-based Oncology GIS. Dr. Fadiel has 15 years of experience in teaching bioinformatics and computational biology.

Evan Keller

Director, Single Cell Spatial Analysis Program, University of Michigan, USA

Dr. Keller is the Richard and Susan Rogel Professor of Oncology and serves as Director of the Single Cell Spatial Analysis Program (website: singlecellspatialanalysis.umich.edu), Director of Research Core Office in the Office of Vice President of Research, and Associate Director of the Rogel Cancer Center Shared Resources. Dr. Keller obtained a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) and Masters of Preventive Veterinary Medicine/Epidemiology (M.P.V.M.) degrees from the University of California, Davis and a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Developmental Biology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is Board Certified in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology). Dr. Keller has published more than 260 scientific publications in research that extends from basic through clinical studies with a focus on crosstalk between tumor and its microenvironment and the pathobiology of metastasis. He has worked with multiple single cell and spatial platforms including both transcript and protein based.

Bing Ren

MD PhD, Assistant Professor, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, USA

Dr. Ren is an assistant professor of pathology at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. She received an MD degree from a medical school in China, obtained a Ph.D. degree, and completed residency and fellowship training in the United States. She is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and trained as a subspecialty surgical pathologist in the areas of surgical oncology and Gastrointestinal/liver pathology. Her practice includes the gastrointestinal tract, pancreatobiliary and liver pathology, and genitourinary pathology. Her research interests lie in carcinogenesis and genetic alteration of colorectal, pancreatic, renal, and bladder carcinomas. At DHMC, she is actively involved in the areas of digital pathology and image analysis studies. With her expertise in genitourinary and gastrointestinal pathology, she helps to develop deep-learning models for the diagnosis of Barretts esophagus and dysplasia, celiac disease, idiopathic inflammatory bowel disease, colon polyps, colorectal carcinoma, renal cell carcinoma, and bladder cancer.
